Virtual Sightseeing

(12.03.10) So many sights and so little time to visit them all. Every now and then we will give you some information on the most interesting places to visit during your stay..

Yes, Vienna offers some sights. A great number to be honest. More sights than can be visited in just a few hours of spare time beside the busy conference schedule. To make your choice a little easier we will inform you of some interesting sights in advance so you can chose where to go..

Schloss Schönbrunn

(12.03.10) Its origins date back to the beginning of the 14th century. And in 1569 the estate came in the posession of the Habsburg-family. Used as hunting grounds for the emporers some small buildings were on the site.

In the late 17th century a splendid new residence was built which has been the central building of the Schloss Schönbrunn until today. Once settled quite a ride out of town the Schloss Schönbrunn is now easily reached by Underground.

"In 1996 Schönbrunn Palace was put on the list of UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Sites. Inclusion in this list confirms the importance of the palace and its gardens as a Baroque work of art."

The gardens are inhabited by masses of trusting squirrels. So make sure you have some nuts in your pocket when strolling through the alleys.
