Welcome to the web site of
the 8th Conference of the International Sports Engineering Association
in Vienna 12-16 July, 2010
The International Sports Engineering Association was founded in 1998. Its primary aim is to act as a forum for technical and scientific issues relating to sport and sport technology for those involved in research and development in the field. We accomplish this goal with two major activities:
1) our quarterly journal Sports Engineering, published by Springer, and
2) a biennial international conference on the Engineering of Sport.
Members come from a wide range of disciplines from engineering to sports science, and from research organizations, universities and relevant industries around the world. Since the original Engineering of Sport conferences in 1996 and 1998 in Sheffield (UK), ISEA has held international biennial conferences in Sydney in 2000, Kyoto in 2002, Davis in 2004, Munich in 2006 and Biarritz in 2008. The last few conferences have attracted more than 300 participants from all over the world and featured an industry exposition that showcased state-of-the-art sports equipment and instrumentation.
The 8th conference on the Engineering of Sport will be held in the beautiful city of Vienna, the cultural center of eastern Europe. We cordially invite you to attend this important international scientific event that will further define the boundaries of sports engineering research and practice and that will be of interest to all involved with sports and sports technology. Vienna promises to be an excellent location for both a productive meeting and for additional relaxation and enjoyment.
